Ryder-Cheshire Australia

Ryder-Cheshire Australia (RCA) is a small independent charity which supports two overseas homes, Klibur Domin in East Timor and Raphael in northern India, and three within Australia at Ivanhoe (Victoria), Singleton (NSW) and Mt Gambier (South Australia) Each of these Homes has a different focus, but they are all founded on the guiding principle . . . the relief of suffering.

Message from the President Ryder-Cheshire Australia

"Klibur Domin is the second overseas home to be supported by Ryder-Cheshire Australia.  The first home was established in India in 1959 by our founders, Leonard Cheshire and Sue Ryder, and has matured into a large 300 bed home caring for people who are sick or who have a disability. Knowing how successful the Indian home, Raphael, has become, Ryder-Cheshire Australia moved quickly after the traumatic times in 1999 to establish Klibur Domin in an derelict facility in the village of Tibar.

This website gives an excellent overview of the excellent work being done at Klibur Domin, and Ryder-Cheshire Australia is delighted to maintain its strong support for the home, including being its major source of funding.  As with Raphael in India, Ryder-Cheshire has made a long term commitment to support Klibur Domin, so the future of the home is assured.

Klibur Domin has seen major improvements in its relatively short life, and these will continue into the future.  We in Ryder-Cheshire Australia are highly impressed with the way the home is being managed and operated by the dedicated management team and staff, led by Senor Joaquim Soares.  We are also most happy to continue sending Australian volunteers to share their skills and assist the operation of the home.  Since 2000, more than 150 Australian volunteers have worked at Klibur Domin and made a positive impact.

All of us in Ryder-Cheshire Australia wish everyone at Klibur Domin and the people of Timor Leste every success as you strive towards making a better life for the people of your beautiful nation."
